Someone makes a scrapbook when they have a memory they want to save to pass on. There are times when I wished I could have paused a moment, cut it out, pasted it onto a page, and written exactly what I felt in that moment so that I would never forget the feeling of it. So I did just that in my sustained investigation. This collection represents that things are not always the way they seem and how it feels to be in happy moments with the knowledge hanging over you that everything comes to an end. In the beginning of the process I attempted to match song lyrics to my works as displayed in image 15. I found that putting myself in the shoes of my subjects and writing myself what their thoughts would be was the perfect way to created a genuine connection between the style of the collage and the emotion displayed: the text in image 5 shows what I was thinking as I photographed my mother. Editing these photos in the style of disposables or lm photos was to evoke the nostalgia one feels when flipping through old photo albums and scrapbooks. Once a moment passes, it doesn't have to be gone forever. Immortalize the important moments in your life, your future self will thank you.
