I explored the question, "How do I capture images that evoke a sense of calmness?".
I began experimenting in image 3 and 7 with creating different types of calming atmospheres that focus on using people's facial expressions in their portraits to give the photo a peaceful tone. While I liked the way those images came out, I wanted to go in a different direction and focus on landscape imagery and finding patterns in nature because personally, I find them more calming. In images 5, 6 and 10, I found moments in nature that scientifically evoke calmness in a person. In my research, I learned that curved lines, natural fractals, and the color blue have been scientifically proven to be relax your brain. Finally, I explored using the warms colors created by golden hour to make peaceful images. In images 1, 13 ,15, I took photos during golden hour to create warm and calming atmospheres. I used animals in image 1 and a self-portrait in image 15 with hopes that viewers will resonate with them.
