5 tips about street photography
Look away from subject in candid shot
Have you encountered awkward moments when you are trying to photograph subjects on the street, and you make dealy eye contact with the subject while holding up your camera and they come up to you and ask you if you are taking a photo of them. As a beginner, at least for me, I always dreaded this moment so I learned to not look at them while shooting. I would look in my camera, know the angle of the image and focus on the subject you are shooting, and then look up at a different object that is relatively close to the subject, that way you will not make dead eye contact with them and they are less suspetic of you taking images of them.
Explaining the situation of the specific photo
Rule of Third
Rule of Third is always important in photos, however, especially in street photography since many of the streets are proportional, by using rule of thirds allows the image to be a mirror image and just cool framing in general.
Linger and let the object come to you
Street photography is all about waiting for the moment to come to you, by using your common sense you developed over your lifetime. This allows you to anticipate many actions that might happen in the next minutes or hour or so that allows you to capture the shot you want, so a lot of it is just about waiting.
Raising the ISO
When taking street photos a lot of actions happen only once and never again because street photography is all about capturing the moment and picking up things that we don’t particularly pay attention to in our day to day life. By raising your ISO< it will allow your camera to use a faster shutter speed and a smaller aperture to minimize your mistakes, therefore, even if a picture did not turn out the way you exactly intended it to be it is still fixable.
Post-Process as little as possible
Street photography, unlike many other produced images, is not highly processed in that porecessing photos defeats the purpose of capturing realistic shots on the street and emotions of subjects. So, good street photography photos avoid making too much editing to the image in order to keep its originality.
