How can I use photography to capture storytelling moments in sports? Going from a spectator in the stands to right on the sidelines as a sports photographer made me realize how often the moments that tell the biggest story are often glazed over due to the fast pace of sports. I believe images can often be more impactful than words, with photography I can freeze these moments in time for other people to see the story themselves rather than read or hear about it.
Over the nine months of my sustained investigation I took 22,576 photos. I went to 40 sporting events and averaged around 564 photos per event. I experimented with photoshop to further my investigation (14,15). I also took photos in between playing times to tell the stories that are not part of the game but make an impact (7). Upon revision, I found that while one photo can tell a story, two or three photos together can tell even bigger stories than just one (8,9,10,11)
